The Founder:

Professor Dr. Saif alZahir received his PhD (1994) and MSc (1984) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee respectively. He worked in 6 universities in the United States, Canada and the Middle East and he was a visiting professor in 2 universities, one in the US and one in United Arab Emirates.  Currently, he is a Full Professor with the Computer Science Department at the University of Northern British Columbia - Canada and an Affiliate Professor at The University of Victoria, BC, Canada.


Dr. alZahir is involved in research in the areas of digital forensic, steganography and watermarking, covert communications, image retrieval and indexing, image compression and reconstruction, multimedia, corporate governance and ethics.


Dr. alZahir authored more than 100 journal and conference articles, two books, and four book chapters. He has published in top notch refereed journals such as IEEE transactions, Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis, SPIE, Emerald, as well as in reputable peer  reviewed international conferences such as IEEE – ICIP, IEEE – ICASSP, IEEE-VTS, IEEE-NSIP, PCS (EUROSIP), IEEE - CCECE, and SPIE.

 

Dr. alZahir supervised 30 Post Doctoral Fellows, PhD and MSc graduate students. Also, he supervised more than 50 undergraduate research students.  In addition, he supervised seven 7 MBA students at the University of Manchester, UK. where he is an International Professor.


Dr. alZahir has served as General Chair for three international Conferences and has served on numerous Technical Program Committees for International Conferences including IEEE conferences, VISAPP conferences,  IASTED conferences, and chaired many technical sessions in these Conferences. 

Professor alZahir is the editor - in - chief of the International Journal on Corporate Governance and the editor - in - chief of the Signal Processing: International Journal and a member of editorial boards of several international journals.
